GoggleSquad becomes an Aqua Sensory certified swim school
We’re very proud to share that GoggleSquad has officially become Aqua Sensory Certified, joining a growing number of swim schools that recognise the benefits of putting emotional wellbeing and child development at the heart of every swimming lesson.
Aqua Sensory is an evidence-based approach that combines sensory science, child development and mindful teaching to create calm, connected and confidence-building experiences in the water. It’s especially valuable for babies, toddlers and younger learners who benefit from a sensitive, child-led way to learn.
For our team, this accreditation is about more than gaining another qualification - it reflects our approach to early years swimming. We’ve always believed that lessons should be about trust, confidence and fun, not pressure or comparison. The Aqua Sensory approach strengthens that belief, helping us support every swimmer, including those who are anxious, neurodivergent or simply prefer a gentler pace.
“Joining the Aqua Sensory community has given our teachers a much broader toolkit,” says GoggleSquad founder Nicola Ayers. “It’s helped us understand even more how children process their experiences in the pool - and how small changes in pace, tone and connection can transform learning effectiveness.”
Aqua Sensory founder Jo Wilson added: “GoggleSquad are always looking for ways to make swimming lessons more meaningful, inclusive and engaging, which is why they chose to become Aqua Sensory trained. Aqua Sensory is more than just swimming - it’s about connecting child development, neurodiversity and playful discovery in the water.”
The Aqua Sensory approach helps instructors notice how learners respond through all their senses - from the feel of the water to the sounds and light in the pool environment. This awareness leads to calmer, more intuitive lessons that align with how children grow and learn best.
This step also means families joining GoggleSquad can feel even more confident that lessons are designed around each swimmer’s individual needs - not just ticking off a list of strokes or stages.
We’re now welcoming more babies and toddlers than ever, thanks to the addition of the Imber Court pool to our roster of swimming venues, alongside lessons led by our early years specialists at Walton-on-Thames, Claygate and Cobham.
For parents interested in exploring baby and toddler lessons with GoggleSquad, we’re offering a free taster session. To find out more or book your place, please email hello@gogglesquad.co.uk or enquire using our friendly GoggleBot.
